VANS Shoe company was founded in 1966 by Paul Van Doren, James Van Doren and three other partners, all passionate about board sports.

Since its creation, the Vans brand has generated unprecedented enthusiasm among a growing community of skaters. Vans shoes become the symbol of a generation, their models no longer proliferate only in skate parks, but also in the streets, high schools and colleges.

The brothers Paul and Jim Van Doren Inaugurated the "Van Doren Rubber Company" on March 16, 1966 in Anaheim, California. The company stands out at the time because the manufacture and sale are carried out on site. In the early 70's, the brand became increasingly influential in Southern California. Skaters make it their flagship shoe brand thanks to the innovative process of their soles offering better grip to the grip of the skate and unique robustness.

1976 marked the arrival of the VANS Era model, designed by Tony Alva and Stacy Peralta. Available in a multitude of color combinations and very quickly adopted by a whole generation of skaters.

In 1977, the design of the VANS Old Skool model which stands out for its legendary "Sidestripe" side stripe, as well as the Slip-on model, the brand's first slip-on model; will make a sensational arrival in Southern California before upsetting a whole generation of future skaters internationally in 1982, in particular thanks to the film "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" where we see Sean Penn wearing this model.

A year later, the second model with the iconic side stripe "Sidestripe" arrived. The "Sk8-Hi" has been specially designed for better ankle protection and a more functional aspect that will immediately appeal to skateboarders.

Despite a dark period between 1984 and 1987 when the company found itself on the verge of bankruptcy due to the exhaustion of its resources, Vans finally managed to repay its debt of 12 million dollars. In 1997, surfing on their exponential success in the field of Skateboarding and BMX, the company decided to extend the brand to new extreme sports.

The Events of the "Vans Triple Crown Series" will attract a new audience of riders from Surfing, Wakeboarding, Snowboarding and Motocross. Becoming more and more selective with its official retailers, it took until June 2019 for the OUTSIDE Boutique in Aix-en-Provence to be able to offer you the flagship models of the Vans brand, as well as their "Pro Skate" collection.
